As with many things when it comes to relationships, how open and honest you should be with your partner is often a case of balance.
It’s important to communicate openly with one another about anything that’s been bothering you, plans for the future or general expectations surrounding your relationship. Not discussing these kinds of things can mean issues begin to build up and cause resentment over time – or you may end up assuming everything’s ok when it actually there are unaddressed issues bubbling beneath the surface.
At the same time, you don’t have to disclose every private thought or feeling to your partner, and it would be unrealistic to expect them to share every little thought and feeling with you. Equally: if you need to talk to your partner about something, sometimes being tactful can be as important as being honest.
