What is Family Counselling?
Family Counselling can help with a wide range of difficulties, from long running rifts to problems caused by changes in family situations.
Whatever the issue we can listen and provide non-judgmental support to get your family life back on track.
What happens in Family Counselling?
You will meet online with a trained Family Counsellor who will provide support and encourage everyone who joins the session to have their say and share their feelings. You will be asked to talk about what's happening and what you'd like to see change.
What takes place in your sessions will very much depend on what you hope to get out of them and on the unique needs of your family. Your counsellor will work with you to decide what happens next.
We know that every family is different so Family Counselling is very flexible and we'll work with you to decide how often your family should attend.
What sort of issues can Family Counselling help with?
Family Counselling can help your whole family to communicate better, and to understand and resolve differences. It can help you all better appreciate the perspectives of other family members – and feel your perspective is being heard too.
When families go through change, it can be difficult to learn to adapt. Counselling can help family members to support one another through these difficult times, to reduce conflict and arguments and grow stronger as a result.
What is the cost of Family Counselling?
We are a self-funding charity and we do not make a profit from the services we provide. We work on a donation basis only and advise it costs Relate £60 to provide each session of counselling.
Relate has national contracts with several organisations, view them here. If you qualify, we can offer you free sessions subject to qualifying criteria.
