There are lots of reasons why you might need a bit of extra help with things going on in your life – problems with friends, parents or teachers.
If you’re not feeling like yourself, talking to someone who’s not involved in what’s going on can really help.
Our Coventry based children and young people’s service charges £50 per session.
What is Children and Young People’s Counselling?
Children and Young People’s Counselling is for any young person who’s having problems.
Counselling can help no matter what’s on your mind. If it’s bullying, your parents splitting up, arguments with friends or you’re just feeling a bit low, we’re here to help you deal with it.
Some people think that counselling is just for people who have really serious problems, but it’s not. Counselling is just a chance to talk over what’s bothering you.
What happens in a counselling session?
When you see your counsellor, you’ll have a chance to chat about what’s on your mind. They won’t judge you or tell you what to think or do, and they won’t look down on you because you’re young. They’ll respect you and listen to what you have to say.
Having someone to talk to outside of your home and school life can help you see your problems in a new light and help you work out how to cope with your feelings.

Time For You Schools Counselling
Nationally we provide services in more than 600 schools and help over 15,000 children and young people a year.
Locally we provide services in more than 35 schools across Coventry & Warwickshire including SEND schools.
We work primarily with clients at the preventative end of the mental health spectrum.
By operating early intervention services in schools, Relate helps to prevent young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties from developing more acute mental health difficulties.
At the heart of our Time For You children and young people’s service is one-to-one counselling support for those affected by issues such as family breakdown, bullying and peer relationships, bereavement, step-families or the absence of a family member in their life.
A study of school-based counselling found that 90% of teachers said that it made a positive difference to students.
The opportunity to talk to a trusted, professional counsellor has a positive impact on children and young people. It can help increase their self-esteem and confidence, enable them to communicate better with their peers, teachers and families, and increase their ability to focus and engage with learning.
We collect data to demonstrate the effectiveness of our work and can produce individual, tailored reports for your school.
All of our counsellors work within a clinical framework of ongoing supervision and continuous professional development to ensure the highest professional standards.
What to expect
You can expect to be helped by a supportive and non-judgmental counsellor. They will start by undertaking an initial assessment to make sure Relate is a good fit for you.
You can be referred by a parent or carer, or you can ask to see a counsellor yourself – what you say is confidential unless the counsellor is worried about your safety.
